The fly-half joined Connacht in October and has since scored 46 points in a dozen appearances.
26-year old MacGinty was born in Dublin but qualified to play for the US at the World Cup after moving there in 2011. He scored 25 points for the Eagles at the tournament, playing in all three pool games.
His is the latest high-profile departure from Connacht to be announced, following the news that centre Robbie Henshaw is to join provincial rivals Leinster in the summer.
