Connacht’s Dave McSharry out for rest of season due to concussion fears

Following on from the news that back row Eoghan Masterson is set to miss the rest of the season the province have confirmed that they will also be without Dave McSharry.

Connacht’s squad woes are deepening as they reach a crucial stage in their season.

“Having sustained a number of concussions in the past 12 months, Dave McSharry has been reviewed by a specialist,” Connacht said in a statement this afternoon.

“He has been advised to undertake a period of rest from the game for the remainder of the current season. Dave, who has a contract with Connacht for next season, will continue to train in a non-contact capacity with the squad.”

There was better news from Ulster Rugby, who announced that flanker Sean Reidy has agreed a two-year contract extension, while tighthead prop Ricky Lutton has signed on for another year.

Reidy has featured 15 times for Les Kiss' side this season, scoring three tries in his last four appearances.

Lutton has amassed 44 caps for Ulster to date, including 19 so far this season. The Ulster native, who turns 30 later this week, has started the last five games for Ulster in the absence of Wiehahn Herbst.
