Six Nations rugby kicks off this evening in Paris

The rugby Six Nations tournament kicks off this afternoon at the Stade de France in Paris.

It's the first sporting event hosted there since the city's terror attacks last year.

While Europe remains of a high terror alert, there are questions as to how the match will be policed.

Simon Turner, a former superintendent with the Met police, says there will be massive contingency plans in place: “The French have been very clear about the number of resources they have got on today.

“They have talked about snipers; they have talked about sniffer dogs.

“They have talked about the number of officers and also it is not just about the police, it is the security inside the stadium and the event organisers.”
