Van den Heever banned for Munster’s opening pair of European games

Munster's Gerhard van den Heever is to miss the province's first two European Champions Cup matches after receiving a ban for a dangerous tackle.

The winger won't play in either Saturday's meeting with Treviso or the following week's trip to Stade Francais.

Van den Heever received a two-week ban for the dangerous tackle in the air made in last week's win over Edinburgh that saw him sin-binned at the time.

The winger has started five of Munster’s seven PRO12 games this season and scored a try against Ulster at the end of October.

Van den Heever can return to PRO12 action for the southern province’s derby against Connacht on November 28.
