Qantas and Air New Zealand raise the stakes ahead of Rugby World Cup final

Australia take on holders New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup final tomorrow and the two countries’ airlines have been duelling online in the buildup to the match.

Air New Zealand got the ball rolling before the teams had even won their respective semi-finals.

When Qantas tweeted their excitement at taking on Argentina the other airline suggested they be careful what they wish for.

But the Australians weren’t showing any fear.

The stakes have been raised in the last 24 hours - with the Kiwi airline tweeting a picture of a Qantas plane in New Zealand colours - complete with the All Blacks logo and other slogans.

Qantas quickly returned the favour - decking an Air New Zealand plane in Wallabies yellow.

Then the colours wearing moved from the planes to the airlines’ employees

This is going to end with some seriously sheepish looking airline staff next week.
