Ireland may have departed the Rugby World Cup at the weekend, but there’ll always be the memories.

One particularly good one was Simon Zebo’s nearly-try against Romania, which holds off some serious competition to take the gong of greatest try never scored at the tournament.

The World Rugby video ranks the end-to-end ‘try’ by Ireland, which was ruled out for the merest tippy-toe being in touch, ahead of sterling efforts from each of the Polynesian nations and Canada.

They would’ve got away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling TMOs!

But, as one YouTube commenter noted, next up should be a top 5 greatest victories never won…
