WATCH: Brian O’Driscoll shares his thoughts on the RWC quarter-finals

Ireland legend Brian O’Driscoll has a look ahead to this weekend’s matches and gives his thoughts on the tournament so far.

He believes the pool stages played out largely as expected, with England the only notable absentee from the knock-out stages.

“It’s hard to begrudge Wales the runner-up spot,” O’Driscoll said of the so-called group of death.

“They just do not know when they’re beaten and they will have the ‘Boks very, very worried indeed.”

We may have avoided the All-Blacks, but O’Driscoll warns against complacency.

Yesterday he shared the sadness of the rest of the country at the premature end to Paul O’Connell’s tournament, and he mentioned the loss again when discussing our chances on Sunday.

“From an Irish perspective, delighted at topping the pool and beating France,” O’Driscoll said. “But it’s come at a cost.

“If anyone thinks it’s a foregone conclusion against Argentina, they don’t know a whole lot about test match rugby.”

The legendary centre also looked ahead to the battles between Scotland and Australia and of course, France and New Zealand.

“France always have one performance in a World Cup, and maybe this will be it.”
