WATCH: Nathan White on the importance of 'a square, stable scrum'

Nathan White starts today for Ireland’s second pool game of the Rugby World Cup and is aware of the importance of managing the scrum.

The Connacht prop has said he is keen to “push” Mike Ross for a starting spot and keeping the referee happy is a now a big part of their role.

“It’s something the referees have spoken about before the tournament - a square, stable scrum,” he said today.

“If you can deliver that, if you can have a square, they seem to reward that.”

“You just wanna paint good pictures around either rucks or mauls or tackles and take his decisions out of the game.”

White agreed: “If you can take it out of the hands of the referee and do it yourself and give that platform they want it’s a lot easier. Cut the decision-making out.”
