Paul O’Connell named Six Nations Player of the Tournament

Ireland captain Paul O’Connell has been named Player of the Tournament for this year’s RBS Six Nations.

The Limerick man led Ireland to a second successive Championship win, after a nail-biting final day of action last weekend.

O’Connell, 35, also won his 100th international cap during the tournament.

The legendary lock led by example, scoring Ireland’s opening try in their final, crucial game against Scotland in Murrayfield last Saturday.

"I'm delighted to receive the trophy,” O’Connell said.

“When you see the names of those who have won it before you realise what a great honour it is.

"I'm very grateful to all the supporters who voted for me."
