Brian O’Driscoll’s punditry role with BT Sport extended to a spot of rugby coaching earlier this week with former All Black Nick Evans.

The pair talk presenter Matt Dawson through the finer points of phase play in a clip on BT’s YouTube channel.

They then demonstrate the move, with Drico explaining that the key to success in phase play is no decoy runners - every player involved has to present a viable option.

And you can take his coaching tips as wise words, as the Leinster and Ireland legend yesterday accepted an honorary doctorate from Queen’s University Belfast.
