Ruby continues the digs at ROG in Irish Examiner event

Ronan O’Gara must feel like everyone is starting to gang up on him.

Donal Lenihan hammered him for his clothing choice at the Irish Examiner sports breakfast today, but there was no salvation from his friend and seven-time leading jockey at the Cheltenham festival Ruby Walsh.

The pair were asked who they reminded each other of. Ronan was asked to give a rugby player, Ruby to give a jockey.

Ronan O’Gara: “Paul O’Connell. People have a perception of him but inside the dressing room he has a dry humour and is great craic. People don’t see that side to him. They just see the intimidating, masculine, warrior Paulie. It’s hard to compare anyone to Ruby because he’s a little bit special and different. he’s had a few bangs off the ground too many.”

Ruby Walsh: “I’d say AP McCoy.”

Ronan interrupts: “A champion jockey.”

Ruby: “They both have self belief, conviction, never think they are wrong, make thousands of mistakes and keep coming back. They have that undying belief that they are the best.”

Mind you Ruby got a bit of a dose himself from the Examiner's racing correspondent, Pat Keane.
