Australian players suspended by coach after night in Dublin drinking

Australia's rugby coach has disciplined 15 players for partying in Dublin just days before Saturday's game against Ireland.

Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie said the side's standards of ethical conduct were compromised after players stayed out drinking until the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Six players have been stood down for the next match and a further nine have been sanctioned for breaches of internal team protocols.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the team went out to dinner on Tuesday night, with a day off training planned on Wednesday.

Some players then went out in town after the dinner and imbibed "inappropriate levels of alcohol", according to McKenzie.

There were no complaints but the players were disciplined for breaking internal rules of conduct, he said.
