Last-gasp knock-on denies Belvo win at UL Bohs

UL Bohemians 13 Old Belvedere 9

Old Belvedere almost snatched a win at Annacotty but a knock-on close to the line three minutes from the end proved costly.

UL Bohemians were 27-24 winners when the sides met in Dublin last month and they managed to further ease their relegation worries by coming from 6-0 down early on this afternoon.

The home side began nervously and were punished when they roamed offside after five minutes and Josh Glynn slotted the penalty.

Glynn doubled Old Belvedere's tally with his second penalty after 26 minutes but then came the only try of the game.

Following a series of drives, UL second row and captain Ed Kelly found a gap to drive over and Ben Martin converted to have the hosts 7-6 in front.

Full-back Martin stretched their advantage with a penalty after 45 minutes, but ten minutes later Glynn was again on target to leave only a point between them.

UL built again and a second successful penalty from Martin proved to be the match-winning score as Colm Tucker jnr's side handed 'Belvo their fifth straight defeat.

Bohs remain second-from-bottom, but their fourth victory of the league campaign means there are only two points between themselves and eighth-placed 'Belvo.
