Toulon began their Heineken Cup campaign with a bonus point victory over Montpellier in an entertaining game at the Stade Mayol this evening.

Delon Armitage touched down for two tries, while Jonny Wilkinson kicked two conversions and a brace of penalties to lift Toulouse top of Pool six.

Flanker Pierrick Gunther was first to go over for the home side just 15 minutes in before Bakkies Botha scored to put his side in control.

Armitage’s two scores extended their advantage before Mamuka Gorgodze scored a late consolation with eight minutes left.

However, there was still time for replacement centre Mathieu Bastareaud to seal the win with three minutes left.
