Munster and Ireland hooker Jerry Flannery has announced that he will retire from professional rugby with immediate effect.

The 33-year-old, who has struggled with injury for the past two seasons, played his last competitive game in Ireland's World Cup defeat of the US Eagles at New Plymouth's Yarrow Stadium last September.
