Clontarf win Dublin derby convincingly
Clontarf 35 Old Belvedere 7
Clontarf coasted clear of their Dublin rivals Old Belvedere in the second half of this Division 1A encounter at Castle Avenue.
Two penalties from full-back Richie Lane moved the north Dubliners into a 6-0 interval lead before they really cut loose against the out-of-sorts defending champions.
A solid platform of possession supplied by the forwards gave the ‘Tarf backs a number of chances to score, and out-half Noel Reid and centre Killian Lett needed no second invitation.
They both touched down in the third quarter and with Lane landing two conversions and a further penalty, the gap suddenly widened to 23-0.
Scrum half Sam Cronin then got in on the try-scoring act for the hosts, before ‘Belvo’s speedy full-back Daniel Riordan touched down for the second week running.
However, any hopes of a comeback from Phil Werahiko’s charges quickly evaporated as ‘Tarf secured a well-merited bonus point through the ever-alert Reid.

Clontarf: Tries: Sam Cronin, Noel Reid 2, Killian Lett; Cons: Richie Lane 3; Pens: Richie Lane 3
