Chambers excited to wear red of Munster

New Munster signing Will Chambers has expressed his excitement ahead of his short term spell with Tony McGahan’s side.

The versatile back touched down in Cork airport yesterday and will undergo medical and fitness examinations before settling into his new surroundings in Limerick where he will be based.

The prolific 23-year-old will add to Munster’s threat behind the scrum having scored 25 points in 23 appearances for the Queensland Reds in Super 15 rugby.

Having followed the likes of Christian Cullen, Jim Williams and Doug Howlett from the southern hemisphere to Thomond Park, Chambers is already familiar with the ethos of Munster rugby.

“I was fortunate enough to go to Edinburgh and meet a few of the boys there before their game,” he told MunsterRugby.ie.

“Unfortunately they didn't get the result but they were very welcoming to me, made me feel comfortable and now I'm looking forward to getting to know them all a bit better and see how we all go.

"Obviously I'm pretty excited to be over here. It's a very prestigious club and when I was presented with the opportunity to come over I took it with both hands.

"Most footy players dream of playing with a club like Munster, pulling on that red jersey and it's something I'm looking forward to.

"To actually be over here now and getting in and mingling and meeting all the boys is something I'm very excited about."

With Northampton Saints playing in Limerick on November 12th in the Heineken Cup, Chambers won’t have to wait too long to experience a Thomond Park atmosphere, something which he is looking forward to.

"I did a bit of research and spoke to a few people and they made me aware it's one of the most prestigious clubs in the world. How the whole place is set up. How crazy the fans are.

" I know they love their footy over here, I know the fans get right behind them and I know it's something I'm looking forward to."
