James Hook’s penalty four minutes from time completed a dramatic come-from-behind victory for Ospreys and booked their place in the Magners League play-offs.

The Welsh side looked down and out after a poor first half in which Danwel Demas’ try – converted by Tito Tebaldi – gave the rock-bottom Italians a 10-3 lead.

But two Dan Biggar penalties clawed Ospreys back within a point and although he missed a third opportunity, Hook stepped up late to clinch a priceless win.

Ospreys still had a nervous wait to confirm they had booked a top four place but Scarlets’ win over Cardiff Blues was enough to clinch Ospreys their spot.

In the semi-finals the Ospreys will visit Munster the day after Leinster host Ulster next Friday.
