Munster rugby today confirmed that Sam Tuitupou will leave at the end of the current season.

The former Auckland Blues centre joined the Reds from Worcester Warriors at the end of last season and it is expected that he will return to the Aviva Premiership in England to resume his career.

A powerful hard-running centre, Tuitupou struggled to make the desired impact at Munster and recently lost his starting place in the number 12 jersey to fellow Kiwi Lifeimi Mafi.

Munster coach Tony McGahan today paid tribute to Tuitupou’s efforts while at Munster.

“We here at Munster thank Sammy for his efforts this season,” McGahan said.

“He has been a popular member of the squad and has certainly added to our backline unit. His dynamic work at the contact area has been a strong focal point for us in both attack and defence.

“We wish him the best in both his rugby and personal life in the future.”
