Mary's romp to bonus point win
Garryowen 15 St Mary's College 39
Garryowen fell to their third successive defeat in the Ulster Bank League as St. Mary’s College romped to a bonus point win at Dooradoyle.
Division 1A’s bottom side leaked five tries to the Dubliners, with St. Mary’s out-half Gavin Dunne kicking four conversions and two penalties.
St. Mary’s, who lifted the Shay Deering trophy afterwards, had tries from Richie Sweeney, Damian Hall, Darren Hudson, Stephen Grissing and Ronan Doherty.
Former Ireland Under-20 winger Hudson was scoring for the second successive game. His try-scoring haul for the campaign now stands at seven.
The victory completed a season’s double for St. Mary’s over Garryowen. Ciaran Potts’ side are still third in the table, hunting down Old Belvedere and defending champions Cork Constitution.
Garryowen, who were 13-0 behind at half-time, salvaged some pride with second half tries from flanker Anthony Kavanagh and replacement Shane Buckley.
