Captain Alastair Kellock’s first try for Scotland could not prevent the visitors trailing as defending RBS 6 Nations champions France took a half-time lead at the Stade de France.

The hosts raced into a 10-0 lead after 10 minutes courtesy of Maxime Medard’s third-minute try, Morgan Parra’s conversion and a Francois Trinh-Duc drop goal.

Kellock burrowed over after 20 minutes and Dan Parks converted to cut the deficit, but a converted penalty try following scrum pressure meant Scotland faced an uphill task to claim a first Six Nations win in Paris.
