Wilkinson and Contepomi start for Toulon, but no Hayman
Toulon coach Phillipe Saint Andre has selected Jonny Wilkinson and Felipe Contepomi at fly half and inside centre respectively for Sunday’s Heineken Cup clash with Munster at the Stade Félix Mayol, kick-off 4pm.
Amazingly, All Black tight-head Carl Hayman has not been included in the matchday squad.
ERC regulations allow for only two overseas players in a Heineken Cup squad on matchday and coach Saint Andre appears to have sacrificed the giant Kiwi in order to play the likes of Contepomi, Juan-Martin Fernandez Lobbe and former Wallaby openside George Smith.
Georgian prop Davit Kubriashvili has been chosen to fill the number three jersey and will pack down with ex-Sale hooker Sébastien Bruno and French loosehead Laurent Emmanuelli in the front row.
The Toulon backline is packed with talent in the from of former Auckland Blues winger Rudi Wulf, English international Paul Sackey and Fijian stepper Gabiriele Lovobalavu.
Toulon (v Munster): Rudi Wulf; Paul Sackey, Gabiriele Lovobalavu, Felipe Contepomi, Christian Loamanu; Jonny Wilkinson, Pierre Mignoni; Laurent Emmanuelli, Sébastien Bruno, Davit Kubriashvili, Christophe Samson, Dean Schofield; Juan-Martin Fernandez Lobbe, George Smith, Joe Van Niekerk (C)
Replacements: Jean-Charles Orioli, Saimone Taumoepeau, Mehdi Merabet, Joe El Abd, Fotunuupule Auelua, Rory Lamont, Laurent Magnaval, Kris Chesney
