Con's unbeaten run ended by Dolphin
Cork Constitution 9 Dolphin 19
Cork Constitution suffered their first defeat of the All-Ireland League season as their local rivals Dolphin triumphed on a 19-9 scoreline at Temple Hill today.
Dolphin’s club international centre Eric Moloney crossed in the second half for the only try of this nip-and-tuck encounter.
Winger Richie Lane kicked Constitution into a third minute lead, splitting the posts from 15 metres out.
But nine points from the boot of out-half and team captain Barry Keeshan moved Dolphin 9-3 ahead for half-time.
Cork Con battered away at the Dolphin defence in the second period, annexing two more penalties from Lane, who took his tally for the campaign to 67 points.
But the hosts’ hunt for a try was fruitless one, leaving Moloney and 14-point hero Keeshan to inspire a famous win for the visitors.
The result ended a three-match losing streak for Dolphin and saw them gain some revenge for their semi-final defeat at this venue last April.
Scorers:
Cork Constitution: Pens: Richie Lane 3
Dolphin: Try: Eric Moloney; Con: Barry Keeshan; Pens: Barry Keeshan 3; Drop: Barry Keeshan
