Kiwi prop set for Munster

Canterbury tight-head Peter Borlase is set to arrive in Ireland next week to begin a two-year stint with Munster.

Coach Tony McGahan signed the promising young prop as cover for Tony Buckley and John Hayes who could be missing for a sizable amount of the season due to commitments with the national set-up.

Borlase, 25, was first choice tight-head for his club Canterbury in New Zealand’s domestic cup competition - the ITM cup.

His club defeated Waikato in the final last week and now the Kiwi is free to join up with Munster.

Borlase is expected to be named in the Munster squad which will take on Australia at Thomond Park on Tuesday November 16.
