Perpignan need late surge to beat Treviso

Perpignan 35 Treviso 14

A late flurry of points saw Perpignan to a first victory in Pool Five of the Heineken Cup, though the scoreline was harsh on a well-matched Treviso side.

The teams were locked at 14-14 with 20 minutes remaining but the hosts broke free with a penalty try before Gerrie Britz and Damien Chouly crossed in the closing stages.

Jerome Porical and Gavin Hume made the early scores for Perpignan, with Tommaso Benvenuti touching down twice for the visitors.

Porical added three conversions, with David Mele and Kevin Boulogne also on target, while Luke McLean had two successful kicks for Treviso.
