Fogarty to start against Treviso
Denis Fogarty will continue as Munster’s first choice hooker for this weekend’s Heineken Cup trip to Treviso.
With Jerry Flannery still sidelined as he recovers from an Achilles operation Fogarty will start in Sunday’s game against Treviso with Damien Varley continuing on the bench.
“Jerry won’t be involved this weekend,” said coach Tony McGahan this week.
“He is recovering nicely from the operation but with no game time it’s not practical to rush him back.”
Loosehead prop Marcus Horan is in a similar position as he has returned to full training with Munster but the weather has delayed his return to action.
He was scheduled to play for Shannon last weekend but the freezing weather led to their match being called off.
“We will wait until later in the week to assess Marcus’ situation,” added McGahan.
If Horan is left behind in Ireland this weekend he might well be asked to play for Shannon in their AIL game against Dolphin on Saturday.
McGahan is due to name his squad for Sunday’s game in Cork today with the starting team and replacements to be named Friday.
