Openside Alan MacDonald follows in the footsteps of Scotland prop Geoff Cross and new signings Scott MacLeod, Ross Samson and Roddy Grant by pledging his allegiance to Edinburgh next season as the club waits on the decision whether their coach Andy Robinson will assume the Scotland head coach position.

For the moment, the Scots will bring an experienced side to take advantage of what is sure to be a young Leinster side, led by Leo Cullen.
