Clontarf lost for the first time in this season's AIB League as Dolphin claimed a deserved victory at Musgrave Park.

The Cork side included Munster's Justin Melck and James Coughlan in their back row.

Barry Keeshan kicked Dolphin into a 9-3 half-time lead, with Daragh O'Shea replying for Clontarf.

Coughlan then stole a 55th-minute lineout and passed for flanker Barry O'Mahony to touch down.

Full-back Phil Howard crossed late for 'Tarf but there was no denying Dolphin their 11th straight home win in the league.

Scorers:

Dolphin: Try: Barry O'Mahony; Con: Barry Keeshan; Pens: Barry Keeshan 2; Drop: Barry Keeshan

Clontarf: Try: Phil Howard; Con: Daragh O'Shea; Pen: Daragh O'Shea
