Galwegians edged themselves back into the top eight of AIB League Division One by beating Young Munster 15-10 at Crowley Park this afternoon.
Ending a two-match losing streak in the competition, 'Wegians won what was an attritional game played in tricky conditions.
A drop goal from close to the halfway from Cormac O'Beirne proved to be the only score of the entire second half.
The home side led 12-10 at the break thanks to a penalty try and a touchdown from Connacht hooker Conor Muldoon, who crossed the whitewash after a series of pick-and-goes.
After a scoreless first quarter, Young Munster opened their account with a Mike Prendergast try and five points from the boot of full-back Matthew Costelloe.
