Quade Cooper scored a try on his international debut to spare Australia‘s blushes against a battling Italy side on Saturday.

The fly-half crossed the line with his first touch after coming off the bench to break the second-half deadlock and give the Wallabies a nervy win in Padova.

Matt Giteau also kicked five penalties for the visitors, while a try from Mirco Bergamasco plus two penalties and a drop goal from Andrea Marcato kept the Italians in the match until Cooper‘s late heroics.
