Elsom voted Aussie fans' player of the year

Leinster's Rocky Elsom has been named the 2007/08 Australian Supporters Player of the Year.

The new award, known as Australia's Choice, was carried out over the internet as fans were invited to vote for the man they regarded as the most consistent and outstanding performer in 2008.

Elsom polled almost as many votes as second-placed Matt Giteau and third-placed George Smith with Stirling Mortlock in fourth and Wyclef Palu fifth.
