Former Leinster prop Juan Francisco Gomez has been ruled out of Argentina's one-off international against South Africa due to a knee injury.

Former Leinster prop Juan Francisco Gomez has been ruled out of Argentina's one-off international against South Africa due to a knee injury.

Gomez, who spent most of last season playing for St Mary's College in the AIL, has been ruled out of the match in Johannesbourg to celebrate Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday with a knee injury.

Argentina doctor Guillermo Botto reported: "Juan Gomez underwent an MRI scan in the afternoon (Monday) and the result shows the tear of the external meniscus of his left knee.

"His participation in the Test against South Africa is ruled out."

Leicester Tiger Marcos Ayerza will replace him with Jockey Club Salta prop Juan Figallo called into the replacements.
