Ireland A retain Churchill Cup Plate

Ireland A's beat an Argentinian selection in Canada yesterday to win the Churchill Cup Plate Final.

It means they retain the trophy they won in Twickenham last year.

An early penalty by out-half Jonny Sexton and a try by Munster hooker Denis Fogarty set the young Irish side up well and they went on the win 33-8.

Ulster centre Darren Cave also touched down in the first half while replacement 10 Ian Keatley crossed in injury time, with Sexton ranking up two penalties, two conversions and a drop goal.

The England Saxons won the Churchill Cup outright.

They beat Scotland A 36-19 in Chicago.

England's second-string ran in three tries in the last 23 minutes to end a tight game.
