Surprises in All Blacks squad to face Ireland

Adam Thomson and Richard Kahui were the surprise selections among six new caps named in the New Zealand squad for the forthcoming Tests against Ireland and England.

Thomson, who plays for Otago and the Highlanders, was picked ahead of loose forward Kieran Read despite a fantastic season for Super 14 winners Crusaders.
