Sale Sharks snap up Wasps winger

Sale Sharks have announced the signing of wing David Doherty from their Guinness Premiership rivals Wasps.

Doherty, 21, has agreed a two-year contract.

He joined Wasps from Leeds last summer.

The Leeds-born speedster has won England honours at under-19 and under-20 levels.

Sharks rugby director Philippe Saint-Andre said: “I am pleased that David is joining Sale Sharks. He is a young player with plenty of potential.

“He made his mark at Leeds, and he has played in some big games for Wasps this season.

“I am sure he will fit in with us at Sale, and we look forward to his arrival at pre-season training.”
