Dallaglio cited

Wasps captain Lawrence Dallaglio has been cited for striking an opponent in his club’s EDF Energy Cup semi-final against Leicester.

Wasps captain Lawrence Dallaglio has been cited for striking an opponent in his club’s EDF Energy Cup semi-final against Leicester.

The former England number eight, who will retire from all rugby at the end of the season, will appear before a disciplinary hearing next Tuesday.

Wasps were beaten 34-24 by Leicester at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday - and the sides are also scheduled to meet in the Guinness Premiership this weekend.

Dallaglio will be available for the trip to Welford Road, but any subsequent ban next week would limit the number of games he plays before hanging up his boots.

Wasps, who have been knocked out of the EDF Energy and Heineken Cups, have seven regular Premiership matches left this season.

Striking carries a recommended low-end sanction of a two-week ban, with the top end starting at eight weeks.
