The vast gulf in experience and maturity was reflected in Leinster A's comprehensive defeat of Ireland U-20s in an experimental match divided into three 30-minute periods at Donnybrook tonight.

"It was a strong Leinster pack with our guys up against a front row of Ronnie McCormack, Brian Blaney and Juan Gomez," said Ireland U-20 manager Phil Orr.

"We start the Six Nations against Italy in Athlone and we have a lot of hard work to do before then."

There was a world of difference up front where McCormack and Richie Leyden both bagged a brace.

The set of eight was completed by captain Sean O'Brien, Blaney, Kevin Sheahan and Shane Monahan with tries from Old Belvedere centre Eoin O'Malley and Wanderers wing Paddy Brophy offering token resistance.

Leinster A: R. McCormack, R Leyden 2 tries each; S O'Brien, K Sheahan, B Blaney, S Monahan try each; J Power pen, 4 cons.

Ireland U-20: E O'Malley, P Brophy try each; M Dufficy pen, I Madigan con.
