Leinster U-20 defeat Munster in Interpro
Leinster Under-20’s got their Interprovincial campaign back on track with a fine 19-9 victory over Munster at Musgrave Park on today.
Dublin University out-half Martin Dufficy was the hero for Leinster as his tally of 14 points, including a sublime second half drop goal, was the telling contributor on a good day for the underage side who were defeated in their opening match of the campaign by Ulster last weekend.
It was Munster to first make inroads thanks to a Scott Deasy penalty before Dufficy kicked his opening score of the afternoon after 15 minutes. UCC man Deasy added his second successful kick before some excellent forward play resulted in a clever cross-field kick to full-back Niall Morris and the Blackrock College man crossed with ease for the first try of the game.
Dufficy added the conversion to give the visitors a 10-6 lead at the interval.
Munster narrowed the lead to a single point in the 38th minute before Leinster again took the initiative with Dufficy adding two more penalties sandwiched between a sublime drop goal, to earn the reigning champions a ten-point win in Cork.
Leinster face Connacht in Greystones RFC next Saturday .
