Holah signs for Ospreys
Waikato and Chiefs flanker Marty Holah has confirmed he will join Magners League side Ospreys in October.
The 30-year-old openside flanker signed a two-year contract with the Welsh club, ending a career-long association with Waikato rugby.
āI had a couple of offers during this year and it was a pretty hard stretch trying to make a decision whether to go now or play out my career in New Zealand,ā the New Zealand international told The Waiakto Times.
āI had a bit of a see-saw battle. One moment I was going to go and the next moment I was going to stay, and it was a really tough decision to come to really.
āIf I was going to go overseas I wanted to go somewhere where there was a new challenge.ā
āItās been such a big part of my life so far, playing for Waikato and the Chiefs.
āItās pretty much the only real profession Iāve had. Iāve got my familyās business, but thatās only ever been a sideline to rugby.
āI donāt think it matters when I leave, Iāll still have a few regrets and Iām sure Iāll still have a few mind games going on six months after I leave as to whether it was the right decision.ā
Holah played 65 times for Waikato over nine seasons, and made 81 appearances, including featuring in 78 consecutive games, for the Chiefs Super 14 franchise.
He also captained the New Zealand Maori, and played 36 times for the All Blacks.
