Former New Zealand captain Wayne Shelford has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 49-year-old is suffering from lymphoma, and will need to undergo five months of treatment.

Shelford captained the All Blacks from 1987 to 1990, and they never lost a match under his stewardship.
