ARU return to O'Neill
John O’Neill has been re-installed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Australian Rugby Union (ARU).
O’Neill served as ARU chief executive from 1995 to 2003 and oversaw the launch of Super Rugby in the Southern hemisphere and the 2003 World Cup.
He joined Soccer Australia a week after leaving the ARU in December 2003 and helped in the creation of the A-League and also presided as the Socceroos advanced to the 2006 World Cup Final for the first time in 32 years.
O’Neill finished in his role as Football Federation Australia (FFA) chief executive late last year and will take up the new role on June 28 following the recent resignation of the incumbent ARU boss Gary Flowers.
