Nick Evans has replaced fly-half Dan Carter in the New Zealand starting line-up for the second Test against France in Wellington on Saturday.

Nick Evans has replaced fly-half Dan Carter in the New Zealand starting line-up for the second Test against France in Wellington on Saturday.

Carter was initially named in the side despite being withdrawn at half-time of the 42-11 first Test win in Auckland last weekend after suffering an ankle strain.

Evans was initially named on the replacements bench, but has been replaced by Ma’a Nonu.

Doug Howlett also takes a place on the bench as Conrad Smith’s hamstring has not healed and Aaron Mauger is carrying a similar injury.

Replacements: Keven Mealamu, Neemia Tialata, Chris Jack, Chris Masoe, Brendon Leonard, Ma’a Nonu, Doug Howlett.
