Ofisa is Connacht player of the year

Ray Ofisa has been voted the Connacht Players Player of the Year for the 2006/07 season.

The Samoan flanker, who signed from North Otago in New Zealand, has made a great impact in his first season with Connacht.

So far this season the 27-year-old has made 20 appearances for Connacht, 15 in the Magners League and 5 in the European Challenge Cup, scoring four tries in the process.

Having been named the Player of the Month for November, Ofisa’s contract was extended earlier in the season until the summe

r of 2009 at least, with Connacht Coach Michael Bradley labelling him as ‘the find of the season’.

Ofisa made his debut for Connacht against Ulster in October on the back of completing the New Zealand season with North Otago.
