Referee Steve Walsh has been forced to backtrack after vowing to clamp down on Ireland in Sunday’s RBS 6 Nations clash with France at Croke Park.

Ireland boss Eddie O’Sullivan slammed Walsh for revealing to Wales assistant coach Nigel Davies he would punish the championship favourites unless they cleaned up their act in the contact area.
