Alan Quinlan made an appearance for Shannon at Belfield today as the league champions reached the AIB Cup semi-finals.

The Munster and Ireland flanker played from the start but had little sway as UCD took a 21-10 lead into the break.

Tries from full-back Conor Quinn, flanker Kevin Croke and Russian winger Vasily Artemiev saw the students streak ahead.

But UCD lost Matt Nagle (45 minutes) and Killian Lett (60) to yellow cards and Shannon capitalised with number 8 David Quinlan, who touched down in the first half, winger Stephen Kelly and hooker Sean Cronin scoring the clinching tries.

Scorers: UCD: Tries: Conor Quinn, Kevin Croke, Vasily Artemiev; Cons: Fergus McFadden 3; Pen: McFadden

Shannon: Tries: David Quinlan 2, Stephen Kelly, Sean Cronin; Cons: Andrew Thompson 4; Pens: Thompson 2
