Ballymena win by 30 points

UCD 10 Ballymena 40, Belfield

UCD failed to break their Ballymena hoodoo as the Braidmen ran in six tries for a thumping 40-10 defeat of the students.

Ballymena have now beaten UCD on each of the seven occasions the sides have met in the AIB League.

Despite leaking an early try to UCD number eight Sean O’Brien, Ballymena led 14-10 at the break. Both Tom Court and David Drake crossed for the visitors.

Pat Steenkamp powered over for a third try for Jacques Benade’s men, Jamie McGrugan and Dirkie Strydom followed suit and the latter’s crossfield kick allowed Andy Maxwell get over for Ballymena’s sixth.
