Shannon slipped to fourth in the Division One standings after Clontarf overcame a 13-point deficit to down the champions.

‘Tarf scored only their second ever away win over Shannon in the league as they conjured up late tries from centre Matt Nethery and lock Alan Trenier.

Three Tadhg Bennett penalties saw Shannon lead 9-3 at the break. ‘Tarf lost their pack powerhouse Martin Garvey to a yellow card and then saw Shannon winger Stephen Kelly grab an intercept try.

However ‘Tarf bounced back when great hands put Nethery over and Trenier was then mauled over on 80 minutes.
