There was no end to Belfast Harlequins’ AIB League misery at Dooradoyle as they slumped to their fifth defeat of the campaign today.

Garryowen went from third to first in the table, thanks to their fourth win five league games, while ‘Quins remain bottom.

Seeking revenge for their defeat in the 2004/05 play-off semi-final, Garryowen muscled into a 14-0 half-time lead, with a try apiece from hooker Damien Varley and winger Kevin O’Riordan.

Varley was mauled over midway through the half and the lively O’Riordan sliced through the ‘Quins defence in injury-time. Conor Kilroy converted both tries and added a penalty.

Scorers:

Garryowen: Tries: Damien Varley, Kevin O’Riordan; Cons: Conor Kilroy 2; Pen: Kilroy
