Connacht full-back named Sportstar of the Year

Connacht full-back Danny Riordan has been named the Galway Bay FM Sportstar of the Year for rugby.

The 22-year-old has timed his run of superb form to perfection in clinching the 2006 award from a host of other candidates.

Connemara RFC have nurtured the exciting pair of young players John O’Brien and Sean Joyce, who have been chosen for their outstanding performances for the Connacht youths and Connacht schools sides, respectively.

The awards ceremony will take place this Friday evening in the Radisson SAS hotel in Galway.
