Howells appointed Edinburgh boss

Edinburgh Rugby have been boosted by the announcement of Lynn Howells as their new head coach ahead of the visit of Leinster in the Magners League on Friday night.

There were many high profile personalities in the frame for the job, including Todd Blackadder and John Kirwan. The Gunners decided to go with the Welshman.

Howells said: "I was extremely impressed from the beginning of the process with the directors' plans for Edinburgh Rugby and feel they are definitely the kind of people I can work with.

"Edinburgh have a very talented squad of players and I am extremely excited about the prospect of working with them.

"My focus will now be on building a consistent level of performance on the field and I very much look forward to the challenge ahead of us in both the Magners League and Heineken Cup."
